Meet An Adult Camp Camper: Kavi

Meet An Adult Camp Camper: Kavi

2017-03-22T08:26:24-04:00

For our Meet A Camper series we’re interviewing returning campers to see why they’re coming back to Camp Bonfire, Real Summer Camp for Adults. Each year, 30-40% of our campers love camp so much that they return.

Our second camper in this series is Kavi, from Philadelphia.

What is a fun memory you have from Camp Bonfire?

CAMP WIDE CAPTURE THE FLAG was hands down the most fun I’d had in years.

Why did you decide to come back to our adult summer camp?

I loved Camp Bonfire when I attended for its first year, I was unable to return last year because of scheduling conflicts but I always knew I’d be back. Camp Bonfire was a truly incredible experience that allowed me to recapture some of that carefree magic of childhood. There’s also something calming about being out in nature and disconnected from technology, it forces you to be present and really take in how beautiful and alive the world is.

What’s something you’re looking forward to at this summer’s Camp Bonfire?

I’m looking forward to meeting new people, actually waking up for sunrise yoga this year, star gazing, making a terrarium (I missed out last time!), and camp wide capture the flag…of course.

What do you do for work and/or play when you’re not at Camp Bonfire?

I’m a full time poet & teaching artist. I travel to colleges & universities to perform & teach writing workshops. I also work with 13  – 19 year-olds as the Outreach Coordinator and Slam Coach at the Philly Youth Poetry Movement. For fun I like to travel internationally and experience new places, cultures, and people.
