Meet an Adult Camp Counselor

Meet an Adult Camp Counselor

2017-04-19T06:52:31-04:00

We’re kicking off our Meet An Adult Camp Counselor series with, Jason! Jason has been known to do anything to help his cabin win Camp Olympics, including donning gold tights and a luchador mask.

What is a fun memory you have from Camp Bonfire?

The dance parties are always my favorite part of Camp Bonfire. Also, reliving that feeling you get when you reunite with camp friends. When the staff comes together it feels like forming Voltron or something big like that.

How do you describe your role as a counselor?

I would describe my role as the “Fun facilitator.” I try to make sure everyone is having as much fun as they are looking to have at any given moment. If that means looking for a place to read a book and relax or someone to throw a football with or paddle around in a canoe, I’m down.

Why did you decide to come back to Camp Bonfire?

Camp Bonfire has been like going back in time for me. I feel like a teenager again. I love working with the staff. We’re all looking to have fun and laugh and help people find or rediscover that part of themselves that wants to laugh and have fun. .

What’s something you’re looking forward at this summer’s Camp Bonfire?

Continuing to be a part of this fantastic community, watching it grow and develop.  I’ll be a part of this as long as I can.

What do you do for work and/or play when you’re not at Camp Bonfire?

I am a stay-at-home parent to a future adult camper. I used to teach preschool and worked in a detention center for a couple of years.
